Inspiring and I learned something new

I read a lot of health and nutrition books and I actually learned a lot from this one. Dr. Clayton's Mastering Your Health is a readable, well organized, and helpful book. You can incorporate his principles into any healthy diet . The book explains the how and why of healthy eating using clear language and thorough teaching of medical science without going so deep that your eyes glaze over. There are charts that make it easy to see which foods are highest in the nutrients he stresses and I printed these pages and put them on the refrigerator. My Story

I was only in my late thirties when I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. At the time, not only was I a practicing physician and advocate of Western medicine, but I was also an avid athlete who took pride in staying in good shape.

I knew that I was experiencing what my patients had been telling me all along—I ate right and exercised, yet here I was going to be on at least two medications before I turned 40!

For two years I researched diet and nutrition, spending nights and weekends after my practice closed, to try to understand what REALLY matters when it comes to health. I was able to resolve my own health issues and throw away my medications, proving that it isn’t age or genetics, it is just knowing the right things to do.

I took my research to my practice, converting it into a hybrid fitness and nutrition center where I could work closely with my patients and help them see the same benefits I did.

I began to get invitations to speak on health topics in the San Diego community, and when COVID-19 hit, I was recruited to work with the San Diego Public Health System to help coordinate our local response.

During COVID, I began putting my research on YouTube, where my unique take on preventive health resonated with a global audience. When my viewers complained about the lack of high-quality, high-dose potassium supplements on the market, I created PMAX to fill this need.

I received my M.D. from Rutgers Medical School and trained in internal medicine at Boston University and Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA.

I have an MBA from Columbia University and have worked with the federal, state, and local governments on various projects related to population health.

When I’m not shooting my next video or performing research, I enjoy spending time in the mountains with friends and family.
